Statement from Rep Jim Nash on Record Budget Surplus

ST. PAUL — House Republican Whip Jim Nash, R-Waconia, issued the following statement regarding today's record-setting $17.6 billion budget surplus.

“A surplus this large is unheard of, and just drives home the need for meaningful and permanent tax relief for Minnesotans,” said Nash. “Today’s surplus news should completely end calls for increased revenues, as it is clearer than ever that Minnesotans are being overtaxed. It is time to find creative ways to return this money to people’s budgets so that Minnesotans get real relief from the pressure of rising inflation, cost of living, and historic overcollection of taxes.”
